Several Pakistani military personnel, including a senior officer, lost their lives in attacks by Baloch militant groups in different regions of Balochistan. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for an armed assault near Turbat that resulted in the death of a senior Pakistani army official and three others. Additionally, Baloch Raji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS) and the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) also carried out attacks in Zehri and Kachhi regions, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
In a statement, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch disclosed that the group’s fighters conducted an attack in the Kalatuk area of Turbat, resulting in the demise of Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Arsalan Haleem, identified as a senior officer of the Pakistani military’s Military Intelligence, along with three other personnel. The BLA mentioned that the operation, based on verified intelligence from their intelligence wing “ZIRAB,” occurred on June 6.
BRAS announced that its fighters targeted Pakistani forces in the Balbal area of Zehri, leading to the death of eight military personnel. Baloch Khan, a spokesperson for BRAS, stated that the group ambushed a military convoy on June 2, resulting in casualties and the destruction of a military vehicle. The group further detailed a subsequent attempt by Pakistani forces to advance, met with resistance from BRAS fighters.
The BRG reported launching an attack on what they referred to as the primary Pakistani forces’ camp in the Sanni area of Kachhi district. BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch described how their fighters surrounded the camp and launched an assault using rocket launchers, LMGs, and heavy weaponry. The attack caused multiple casualties, with reports of both fatalities and injuries among the personnel.
These incidents follow a series of escalating attacks by Baloch groups on Pakistani military and police forces in Balochistan, resulting in significant casualties and infrastructure damage.
