A Pakistani man, Abbas Ali Haider, has confessed to orchestrating an international human smuggling ring that transported migrants to the United States by utilizing fraudulent film production businesses. Haider, hailing from Sialkot, acknowledged his involvement in a scheme that facilitated the movement of Pakistani citizens via Latin America to the US-Mexico border. He utilized sham companies like Diamond TV World Productions and Multimedia Advertising Ltd to obtain visas for individuals, disguising their travel as business-related.

Haider’s operation spanned from September 2019 to September 2023, during which he arranged visas for people to journey to Ecuador, Cuba, and Colombia. These migrants posed as film project employees while their true intention was to reach the United States. The network directed them to the southern US border, where they entered illegally into states like California, Texas, and Arizona. Haider reportedly charged each migrant up to $40,000 for this illicit journey.

Extradited from Mexico to the US in July 2025, Haider pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to bring aliens to the US for financial gain and smuggling illegal aliens for profit. He is set to be sentenced on July 30, facing a potential prison term ranging from three to ten years. The sentencing decision will be made by a federal district court judge, considering various legal guidelines and factors.
