A Pakistani national was apprehended in the United States for attempting to smuggle weapons into Canada. Faizan Ali, along with two Canadians, was found with a cache of 89 firearms, 17 of which were stolen, hidden in a vehicle. The trio faced charges for the illegal transportation of firearms across the border.
Federal authorities in New York highlighted the dangers posed by such smuggling activities. The strict gun laws in Canada have made weapon smuggling from the US a profitable venture for criminals. Unlike the US, Canada has stringent federal regulations on firearms, making it a target for illegal gun trafficking.
The suspects were intercepted during a routine traffic stop in New York. Upon questioning, they provided inconsistent responses, leading to a search of their vehicle. A fake driving license from Pakistan, concealed in the buttocks of Ali, raised suspicions and prompted a thorough inspection by law enforcement.
