Pakistani security forces conducted a 40-hour military operation in Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of 145 individuals. Among them, 92 were labeled as “militants,” while 15 civilians and 17 law enforcement personnel also lost their lives. The surge in violence in Balochistan has seen intensified attacks on security forces, civilians, and critical infrastructure.
Authorities reported that insurgents in the region bordering Iran and Afghanistan have escalated their assaults. The attackers, disguised as civilians, targeted hospitals, schools, banks, and markets, using innocent people as shields during the assaults. The Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the coordinated offensive, resulting in casualties among Pakistan’s security forces and captives taken.
Balochistan, known for its resource wealth but economic challenges, has long faced an insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatist groups. These groups advocate for greater autonomy and a fairer distribution of the province’s abundant natural resources.
