Pakistan’s defence systems faced shortcomings when tested against real-time targeting, integrated air defence, and electronic warfare during India’s Operation Sindoor last year. The report highlighted that Operation Sindoor showcased how Pakistan’s defence systems failed to protect core military nodes from coordinated strikes, resulting in extensive damage to airfields, hangars, and radars in Pakistan due to Indian attacks.
The report specifically pointed out that Pakistan’s HQ-9 long-range surface-to-air system underperformed significantly, despite being marketed as a high-end Chinese solution. Additionally, the JF-17 multirole fighter aircraft, developed jointly by Pakistan and China, did not live up to its expected reputation in preventing Indian strikes on sensitive military sites.
Furthermore, the J-10C multirole combat aircraft and PL-15 beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile did not demonstrate tactical success as claimed. The report noted that Pakistan’s military equipment faces credibility gaps in international markets, with Operation Sindoor damaging Pakistan’s defense system’s reputation as “reliable” and “battle-ready.”
