Pakistan’s Farhan and Zaman Shine in T20 World Cup Match Against Sri Lanka

Opener Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman led Pakistan to a strong total of 212/8 in their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s match against Sri Lanka. Farhan scored a century, his second in the tournament, while Zaman contributed 84 runs. The new opening pair of Farhan and Zaman proved successful for Pakistan, with the team reaching 50 runs in just 4.4 overs.

Pakistan’s powerplay score of 64 without loss was their highest in the ongoing tournament. Farhan’s half-century came off 32 balls, breaking Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition. Zaman, playing his second match, showcased his experience by scoring a fifty off 27 balls.

In the 16th over, Sri Lanka got their first breakthrough when Fakhar was bowled out after scoring 84 runs. Despite losing partners, Farhan continued his impressive form, reaching his century in just 59 balls. Farhan became the first player in T20 World Cup history to score two centuries in a single edition.

Dilshan Madhushanka was Sri Lanka’s most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets, while Shanaka claimed 2 wickets. Pakistan set a challenging target of 212/8 in 20 overs for Sri Lanka.
