Palestine expressed gratitude for India’s plans to establish a Speciality Hospital, an Artificial Limb Fitment Centre, and a Vocational Training Institute in Gaza. The Palestinian Embassy in New Delhi highlighted that these initiatives would enhance healthcare services and aid in the rehabilitation of those severely impacted by the conflict in Gaza. The Vocational Training Institute is seen as an investment in the future, providing essential skills for rebuilding the community post-war devastation.
India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, announced these projects during the campaign for India’s non-permanent membership bid at the United Nations Security Council. The Palestinian Embassy emphasized the critical timing of these developments, given the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where healthcare facilities have been decimated, and civilians lack access to necessary medical care. The initiative is expected to address the urgent need for prosthetic services and long-term medical support for amputees in Gaza.
The Palestinian mission also appreciated India’s consistent support for a negotiated two-State solution between Palestine and Israel. India’s backing for Palestine’s full UN membership and its ongoing humanitarian and developmental assistance were acknowledged. The Embassy conveyed sincere thanks to the Indian government and people for their enduring friendship, humanitarian aid, and commitment to peace and justice.
