Panchayati Raj Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj will kick off discussions in Hyderabad on the Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme, an initiative by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. The workshop at the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj will introduce the vision, objectives, and operational framework of the program.
The outreach workshop, to be inaugurated by Bharadwaj, will see the presence of key officials including Mukta Shekhar, M. Dana Kishore, state government officers, NIRD&PR faculty, and representatives from HUDCO and NABARD. Bharadwaj will outline the vision of the program and present national policy objectives, technical roadmap, and expected outcomes.
The Atmanirbhar Panchayat Portal will be demonstrated live to guide participants through the application workflow and digital dashboards, ensuring accessibility and transparency. Stakeholders will have a chance to engage directly with the Ministry during an interactive Question and Answer session. Telangana will also express its commitment and priorities under the program, fostering a strong partnership between the Centre and the state.
Public sector organizations like HUDCO and NABARD will provide expertise in rural project development and potential financial support for the program. The Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme aims to assist eligible Gram Panchayats and Block Panchayats in creating financially viable projects to enhance their revenue sources. Selected proposals will receive technical assistance, covering Public-Private Partnerships, CSR funding, bank finance, and convergence with other government schemes.
Community participation in planning will be ensured through mandatory consent by the Gram Sabhas. The program will focus on developing winning ideas from Panchayats into bankable projects, fostering self-reliant and economically confident Panchayats over a four-year period. It aims to showcase that financial independence and good local governance are interconnected.
