Panic struck Sector-5 in Panchkula, Haryana, as assailants shot nightclub owner Ratan Lubana, causing serious injuries. The incident escalated with the emergence of an alleged audio message linked to gangster Rohit Godara, leading investigators to explore potential ties to organized crime and extortion networks.
The shooting occurred outside Swiss Lodge in Sector-5, with eyewitnesses noting the assailants arriving on a motorcycle and firing multiple rounds at Lubana. Initial reports indicate that about eight to nine shots were fired during the attack, leaving Lubana with two gunshot wounds.
Following the assault, Lubana was taken to Civil Hospital in Sector-6, Panchkula, for initial treatment before being transferred to PGIMER in Chandigarh and later to a private hospital in Mohali. Police, including Deputy Superintendent Vikram Nehra and Station House Officer Lalit Kumar, examined the crime scene, gathered forensic evidence, and reviewed CCTV footage.
An alleged phone call and audio message received on Lubana’s phone in the name of gangster Rohit Godara added complexity to the investigation. The message reportedly mentioned a demand for Rs 3-4 crore to rivals, warning of repercussions like the attack and requesting direct communication with Lubana.
Authorities are delving into various angles, including gang rivalry, extortion, personal disputes, and organized crime, following previous reports of threats from gangster Donny Bal. Sector-5, a bustling commercial hub in Panchkula known for its vibrant nightlife, is under heightened police scrutiny, with special teams formed to track down the assailants using CCTV footage and technical evidence.
