Pandemonium erupted in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council when the opposition YSR Congress Party pushed for a discussion on alleged irregularities in the supply of ghee for Tirumala laddu, involving Heritage Foods, a company owned by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s family. The YSRCP demanded an adjournment motion to debate the revealed nexus between Heritage Foods and Indapur Dairy, citing evidence of inflated contracts and disqualification reversals.
Council Chairman Koyye Moshenu Raju dismissed the adjournment motion notices from YSRCP members, leading to protests with slogans raised by the opposition legislators. The situation escalated as ruling coalition members criticized the YSRCP for holding pictures of Sri Venkateswara Swamy while wearing shoes, alleging disrespect. The opposition, on the other hand, accused the ruling coalition of diverting attention from the ghee tender irregularities.
Leader of Opposition Botsa Satyanarayana emphasized the need for a discussion on the inflated contracts, highlighting the significant price hike in ghee procurement through Indapur Dairy, which has connections to Chandrababu Naidu’s Heritage company. YSRCP president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that the irregularities occurred during Naidu’s tenure and accused him of shifting blame to political rivals. Reddy detailed the alleged collaboration between Heritage and Indapur, pointing to contract discrepancies and favoritism.
Former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that irregularities in ghee supply for Tirupati laddu transpired during Chandrababu Naidu’s rule, despite Naidu attributing blame to political opponents. Reddy outlined the purported partnership between Heritage and Indapur, highlighting preferential treatment and price discrepancies in ghee supply contracts. He criticized Naidu for deflecting accusations and emphasized that the irregularities were documented in a CBI chargesheet during the TDP’s term.
