Pappu Gurjar, brother of the late dacoit Jagan Gurjar, was transferred from Ajmer High Security Jail to Dausa Central Jail due to safety worries following Jagan’s killing in prison. The transfer, conducted under tight security, occurred after the prison headquarters issued transfer orders. Additional police presence ensured a smooth transition to Dausa.
The move came about two weeks after Jagan Gurjar was reportedly strangled to death in Ajmer High Security Jail on June 29. Concerns for Pappu’s safety were raised by Jagan’s family and Bhavutipura village residents in Dholpur’s Dang region, leading to the transfer request. The family had presented five demands to the district administration, one of which was Pappu’s relocation.
Protests were planned by villagers if their demands were not met promptly, culminating in discussions between community representatives and local authorities. Following negotiations, some demands were accepted, leading to the withdrawal of the protest. Pappu Gurjar had also been hospitalized in early July for chest pain while in Ajmer jail, receiving treatment before being discharged back to jail.
Jagan Gurjar’s murder is still under investigation, with Vishnu, an undertrial accused in another case, allegedly being responsible for the fatal incident. Jagan’s final rites were conducted in his hometown on July 1, and the police continue their inquiry into the matter.
