Paralympic medallist Rakesh Kumar has disputed the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council’s statement that he did not apply for appointment under S.O.-12 of 2022. He asserts that he submitted his application offline and questions the demand for documentary proof. Responding to the Council’s denial of his exclusion from the recruitment process, Rakesh emphasized that he was simply seeking what he believed he was entitled to, denying any attempt to secure entry through improper means.
The Sports Council had previously stated that Rakesh had not submitted an application under the recruitment notification, hence was not considered by the scrutiny or selection committees. It refuted his allegations as inaccurate and mentioned that he sought inclusion after the provisional selection list was already out. Rakesh countered these claims, stating that he had physically submitted his application, not through an online platform.
Rakesh refuted the Sports Council’s accusation of trying for a “backdoor entry” into the recruitment process, labeling it baseless. He questioned the department’s credibility, warning that accepting their narrative unquestioned could raise doubts about his sporting accomplishments. Highlighting his achievements, Rakesh emphasized his integrity as a decorated athlete and questioned the need for dishonesty in this matter.
While maintaining his stance, Rakesh indicated that he was not currently planning legal action against the department but would seek assistance to address the issue. The ongoing disagreement revolves around appointments under S.O.-12 of 2022, with the Sports Council claiming Rakesh did not engage in the recruitment process, a claim he contests by asserting his legitimate application that he believes was unfairly disregarded.
