Passengers arriving from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, were greeted warmly at Terminal 2 of Ahmedabad International Airport. Families and well-wishers gathered to express gratitude to the government for ensuring their safe return amidst recent travel disruptions. Many of these passengers had traveled to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, but faced flight cancellations due to escalating tensions related to the Israel-Iran conflict.
One family member shared, “My sister’s return flight was canceled, causing great worry. With government assistance, she was brought back safely, bringing immense joy to our family.” Another relative mentioned, “My son’s flight from Mecca was also canceled, but with the help of the media and government, he returned safely.” Expressing gratitude, a third family member stated, “Despite the recent challenges, we appreciate the government’s support. Thank you, Modiji.”
Tensions escalated in the region after Israel launched missile strikes against Iran, resulting in explosions in Tehran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the action, emphasizing Iran’s targeting of civilians. US President Donald Trump reiterated his stance against Iran’s nuclear ambitions, with the White House emphasizing his consistent message over the years.
Iran’s Foreign Minister responded to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remarks, denying an Iranian threat and criticizing “Israel Firsters” for the conflict. Rubio had mentioned preemptive strikes against Iran to protect American forces following intelligence about potential Israeli actions.
