Amid worries among local consumers regarding LPG availability, the Patna district administration has implemented strict measures to curb black marketing and hoarding of gas cylinders. Under the guidance of District Magistrate Thiyagarajan SM, 28 raiding teams have been formed to supervise the distribution of LPG throughout the district. To facilitate a seamless supply chain and address public complaints, a district-level helpline has been established, reachable at 0612-2219810 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
To prevent malpractices and ensure transparency, the administration has categorized LPG agency areas into sector, zonal, and super-zonal levels, with designated officials at each tier. Block Development Officers (BDOs) are serving as sector magistrates, Senior Deputy Collectors as zonal magistrates, and Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) as super-zonal magistrates in Patna. These officials are tasked with overseeing the operations of LPG distributors and dealers in their respective regions to guarantee fair distribution.
District Magistrate Thiyagarajan SM has affirmed that there is an ample supply of LPG cylinders in the district, with all gas companies and distributors maintaining satisfactory stock levels. Various booking and delivery options, including missed calls, SMS/IVRS, WhatsApp, and OTP-based systems, are being utilized, with a 25-day interval between bookings. Regular inspections and raids are being conducted at LPG agencies and distributors as per the directive of the District Magistrate to prevent any instances of black marketing or hoarding.
Residents are advised by the administration not to panic-book LPG cylinders but to rely on official channels for information, emphasizing that the situation is continuously monitored to ensure smooth operations and prevent any disruptions.
