Patna Police apprehended Parmanand Yadav, also known as Nepali, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, following a confrontation on Friday. Additionally, three other gang members were detained by district police in connection with the incident. The arrested individuals were identified as Neeraj Kumar alias Vicky, Chandan Kumar, and Shivam Anand.
Neeraj Kumar, one of the apprehended suspects, was allegedly in charge of overseeing the gang’s financial matters. Patna City Superintendent of Police (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh revealed during a press briefing that the arrests were made possible through the diligent efforts of the Beur SHO and his team. Singh disclosed that a tip-off was received on Thursday morning about four gang members in the Beur police station area who were supposedly planning a criminal act in Patna.
According to Singh, the gang members were planning an illicit activity in Patna, prompting the police to take action. Parmanand Yadav, the primary suspect, managed to escape towards Jehanabad, while the other three suspects sought refuge in the Beur area. While Parmanand Yadav was apprehended after an encounter, the remaining three were captured by the Beur police station SHO.
City SP Singh highlighted that Parmanand Yadav has a criminal record with over 20 serious cases filed against him in Bihar and Jharkhand. Following the arrests, law enforcement recovered a country-made revolver, live cartridges, cash amounting to Rs 40,000, and 5,110 Nepalese rupees. Additionally, passports were found in their possession, indicating potential international connections of the gang to Nepal and Malaysia.
Senior police officials in Patna disclosed that specialized agencies and the STF would conduct thorough interrogations due to the severity of the case. Investigators are delving into the gang’s motives for being in Patna, their intended targets, and their wider network. A technical team has been deployed to establish any links between the arrested individuals and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
