People from various backgrounds praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the Somnath Temple in Gujarat on May 11. They described the temple as a significant symbol of India’s heritage, emphasizing the resilience of the country’s culture despite historical challenges. PM Modi is scheduled to participate in a ceremony at Somnath commemorating 75 years since the temple’s restoration.
Jagadguru Paramhansacharya, the Head of Tapasvi Chhavni, referred to PM Modi as a representative of the ‘Sanatan’ culture followers. He highlighted PM Modi’s efforts to revive India’s cultural essence, particularly after the Mughal era. According to him, the Somnath Temple embodies the essence of India’s culture, which has withstood various adversities over centuries.
Ayodhya Municipal Corporation Mayor, Girish Pati Tripathi, underscored the significance of the Somnath Temple as the foremost of the 12 ‘Jyotirlingas’ in India. He described it as a spiritual and timeless emblem of India’s cultural ethos. Tripathi emphasized that cultures and traditions endure when their adherents are dedicated to their preservation, reflecting on the temple’s resilience and symbolic importance.
Journalist Raghuvar Sharan emphasized the universal pride associated with the Somnath Temple, transcending individual communities or religions. He highlighted the temple’s historical importance as a source of inspiration for all Indians. Sharan noted PM Modi’s efforts to showcase India’s rich heritage and instill a sense of national pride among the populace.
Local resident Nitin Mishra lauded the enduring devotion of people towards the Somnath Temple despite facing multiple challenges. He drew parallels between the significance of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Somnath Temple in Gujarat, considering them as symbols of India’s cultural revival. Mishra expressed confidence in the resilience of India’s heritage, attributing its strength to the enduring prosperity of the ‘Sanatan’ culture.
