Security agencies in the Philippines have apprehended two students following a tragic school shooting incident in Tacloban City. The event, which transpired on Monday, led to the loss of three young lives and left seven other minors injured. The police seized two firearms, a .38 revolver, and a 9mm Glock pistol believed to be involved in the shooting.
An ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the case, with a focus on a possible grudge related to bullying. The Philippine National Police emphasized the pursuit of all angles in the inquiry. Responding to a distress call, the Tacloban City Police Office intervened in an active shooting situation at San Jose National High School involving students.
The suspects, known as ‘Rod’ and ‘Nash,’ were safely taken into custody by the police and are now being held at Police Station 1 for proper documentation and investigation under juvenile justice protocols. Identified as Grade 9 students by the Philippines News Agency (PNA), the individuals are at the center of a deeply concerning incident, according to TCPO statements.
Authorities have assured the public of a comprehensive and unbiased investigation to ascertain the truth and ensure accountability. Additional police presence has been deployed in the area to safeguard students, school staff, parents, and the local community. Following the incident, classes were suspended at several schools by the Tacloban City government, including San Jose National High School, San Jose Central School, and Manlurip Elementary School.
