PIB Fact Check refuted a video circulating on social media that falsely attributed fabricated remarks to Additional Secretary Nagraj Naidu Kakanur of the Ministry of External Affairs. The manipulated video claimed India’s partnership with Israel gave it control over the USA, which was proven to be digitally altered. The original video focused on critical minerals and global supply chain resilience, not the controversial statements portrayed in the fake clip.
PIB Fact Check emphasized the video’s falsity and urged citizens to report suspicious content related to the government. The altered video, with misleading captions, suggested an Indian diplomat’s control over US President Donald Trump through Israel, despite the Quad alliance’s status. The fact-checking unit warned against sharing unverified online content, especially concerning public officials and diplomatic issues.
The authentic video clarified that the official was discussing critical minerals, rare earth resources, and global supply chain resilience, contrary to the digitally manipulated claims. The altered clip falsely attributed statements regarding the Quad grouping, Israel, the United States, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the official. The government’s fact-checking unit highlighted the use of artificial intelligence to spread misinformation and mislead viewers.
