The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has warned against a fake letter circulating in the name of the National Medical Commission (NMC) regarding the implementation of a national final year MBBS qualifying examination or the National Exit Test (NExT). The fake letter, dated April 1, falsely claims the phased implementation of the NExT examination for MBBS students admitted from the 2022 batch onwards.

The misleading letter imitates the NMC’s letterhead and office address in Dwarka, West Delhi. It falsely states that the NExT will function as a final year MBBS qualifying exam, a licentiate exam for medical practice in India, and a single entrance exam for post-graduate medical courses, replacing NEET-PG.

The fake circular outlines a two-step NExT examination process: a theory-based exam at the final MBBS level and a clinical and practical assessment post-internship. It also advises medical colleges to align their academic schedules, teaching methods, and assessment systems accordingly.
