Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan criticized Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for holding meetings with government officials, accusing him of trying to act as a parallel administration. Vijayan expressed concern over the Governor’s involvement in departmental meetings before International Yoga Day, stating it goes against democratic norms.
Vijayan emphasized the need for Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to uphold the state government’s authority and dignity in response to the Governor’s actions. He highlighted a past incident where the previous government had opposed a similar move by the Governor, urging the current government to address the issue promptly.
The former Chief Minister also questioned the UDF government’s decision to implement the PM‑SHRI education scheme, previously criticized by the Congress and IUML. Vijayan pointed out discrepancies in fund allocations under the scheme, raising doubts about Kerala’s participation and the utilization of funds.
Vijayan raised concerns about the healthcare system, highlighting shortages of medicines and staff during a surge in communicable diseases. He pointed out delays in appointing around 400 doctors approved by the PSC, underscoring the need for immediate action to address the healthcare challenges.
