Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal participated in a roundtable discussion with more than 50 global business and industry leaders in New York. The event, organized by the Consulate General of India in New York in partnership with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), focused on enhancing India-US trade, investment, innovation, and supply chain collaborations. Goyal emphasized India’s growth trajectory, business-friendly reforms, and opportunities for international investors under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
The discussions aimed to strengthen economic ties between India and the United States, aligning with India’s efforts to boost economic diplomacy with key partner nations. Goyal also highlighted the commitment of India and Canada to elevate their bilateral trade from the current $8.5 billion to a target of $50 billion by 2030. During his visit to Toronto and Ottawa, Goyal engaged with various stakeholders, including academia, government officials, business councils, and institutional investors, to bolster trade relations.
Goyal’s visit to Canada focused on advancing negotiations for the India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries. Earlier interactions included discussions with a delegation led by Jeff Shockey, Executive Vice President at Boeing, to explore potential collaborations and opportunities for mutual growth.
