Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the significance of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, emphasizing its role as a force multiplier for the global economy. Speaking at the India Global Forum’s UK-India Week 2026 in London, Goyal mentioned that the partnership between India and the United Kingdom has grown significantly, covering various sectors beyond traditional trade.
Goyal stated that the agreement would enhance cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, technology, and strategic areas. He underlined the importance of the pact in helping Indian industries advance, improve their global competitiveness, and collaborate with British companies in mutually beneficial sectors.
The minister also pointed out that the India-UK partnership extends to technology, investments, defence, and critical minerals, reflecting a deepening and broadening relationship between the two nations. Goyal highlighted the potential of the trade agreement to integrate India and the United Kingdom into global value chains, fostering economic support and growth between the two countries.
