Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal stressed the need for closer cooperation between industry and government to boost ease of doing business and enhance India’s competitiveness. Speaking at the ASSOCHAM India Business Reform Summit 2026, Goyal highlighted the opportunity for India to strengthen business processes amidst global uncertainties.
Goyal commended India’s resilience in the face of challenges like COVID-19 and emphasized the importance of smarter business practices. He underlined the effectiveness of digital engagement and remote working during the pandemic, urging businesses to adopt such practices.
The minister pointed out the significant growth of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, which have created millions of direct and indirect jobs. Goyal also highlighted India’s potential in the services sector, citing opportunities arising from technologies like Artificial Intelligence and cyber security.
Goyal encouraged India to leverage emerging technologies and global trends for growth. He mentioned the government’s efforts to facilitate investments in data centers and cloud services through partnerships, renewable energy expansion, and robust power infrastructure.
