Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke in Vadodara about the global instability affecting India’s economy, especially due to issues like crude oil reliance and disrupted supply chains. He highlighted the multiple crises worldwide, including COVID-19, economic challenges, and tensions in West Asia, impacting countries like India. Modi stressed the significance of global supply chain disruptions and the pressure on energy markets, affecting prices and availability in various sectors.
Referring to India’s heavy dependence on crude oil imports, Modi pointed out the challenges posed by instability in oil-producing regions, leading to additional pressures. He called for citizens to make small but meaningful changes in consumption patterns to address global uncertainties. The Prime Minister urged the adoption of public transport, Metro services, electric vehicles, and carpooling to reduce fuel consumption and alleviate pressure on foreign exchange reserves.
Emphasizing the role of digital technology in reducing travel requirements, Modi encouraged the promotion of virtual meetings and work-from-home practices. He highlighted that individual actions, when collectively implemented on a national scale, could help India better manage external economic pressures. Modi called for unity in facing these challenges, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts as seen in past crises.
