Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have urged voters in Tamil Nadu to actively participate in the ongoing Assembly elections. Modi emphasized the importance of voting as a fundamental aspect of democracy, calling on citizens, especially the youth and women, to vote in large numbers. Similarly, Shah appealed to voters to select a government that aligns with their aspirations, not one driven by personal ambitions.
Polling in Erode district’s eight Assembly constituencies began smoothly, with District Election Officer S. Kandasamy reporting orderly voting. Kandasamy highlighted the successful conduct of mock polls at all booths before the official voting commenced to ensure transparency. Notably, web-streaming facilities have been introduced in the district for the first time, allowing real-time monitoring of polling station activities.
Moreover, officials are utilizing a dedicated mobile application to monitor voter turnout, providing updates every two hours to the media and the public. Stringent security measures have been implemented to guarantee fair polling. Kandasamy expressed contentment at being among the initial voters in the district.
