Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met during the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi to discuss enhancing connectivity, particularly through the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). They reviewed various aspects of the India-Greece strategic partnership, focusing on trade, defense, tourism, culture, and collaboration in AI and other emerging technologies.
During the meeting, the leaders talked about the India-Middle East Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), which includes two corridors: one connecting India to the Gulf and the other linking the Gulf to Europe. This initiative aims to improve connectivity, efficiency, reduce costs, secure supply chains, boost trade accessibility, and create jobs, facilitating integration among Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
The Ministry of External Affairs reported that the leaders also discussed the early implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to bring significant economic benefits to both countries. They expressed gratitude for Greece’s support in India’s fight against terrorism and anticipated higher tech collaboration, investments, and job opportunities, especially for the youth.
At the AI Impact Summit, the Greek Prime Minister thanked India for hosting the event, emphasizing the importance of AI in shaping the future. He highlighted the need for governments to retrain workers, ensure access to AI tools for small businesses, upgrade public services, and make AI benefits accessible to various sectors like education and healthcare.
