Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israel President Isaac Herzog met to discuss enhancing cooperation in education, start-ups, innovation, tech, and connectivity. During the meeting, PM Modi planted a tree in the Presidential Gardens as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. He also invited President Herzog to visit India soon.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, highlighted the warm ties between PM Modi and President Herzog. They discussed strengthening the special India-Israel Partnership and explored avenues for further collaboration in various sectors. President Herzog welcomed PM Modi to Jerusalem, expressing eagerness for the visit.
Ahead of the meeting, President Herzog shared a video showcasing the preparations for PM Modi’s welcome in Israel. PM Modi, accompanied by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, visited the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Centre. They paid tribute to the Holocaust victims by laying a wreath at the memorial and touring the Book of Names, which honors 4.8 million Jewish victims.
This visit marked PM Modi’s second time at Yad Vashem, having previously visited in 2017. PM Modi’s State Visit to Israel included a grand welcome in Tel Aviv by Netanyahu and a historic address at the Knesset in Jerusalem. President Herzog expressed Israel’s anticipation for PM Modi’s visit, emphasizing the warm reception awaiting him.
