Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the tragic road accident in Solapur, Maharashtra, where eight people lost their lives. He declared a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of each deceased person and Rs 50,000 for the injured individuals. The accident occurred when a pickup van carrying devotees overturned and fell into a well near Tandalwadi village on the Mhaswad-Pandharpur route.
The incident has led to a somber atmosphere in the village, with four women and four children among the deceased. Reports suggest that the van lost control and veered into the well after its brakes failed. Local authorities and police are actively engaged in rescue efforts at the site of the mishap. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed condolences for the victims and their families, offering compensation and support.
CM Fadnavis described the incident as tragic and heartbreaking, emphasizing the need for immediate assistance to the affected families. He assured financial aid of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and highlighted the ongoing treatment of the survivors. NCP (SP) leader Rohit Pawar also expressed deep sorrow over the accident, extending condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a swift recovery for the injured individuals.
