PM Modi announces financial aid for Meghalaya mine mishap victims

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic coal mine accident in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district. He announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of the victims. PM Modi offered condolences to the affected families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured individuals.

In response to the incident, Chief Minister Conard K. Sangma stated that a thorough investigation has been initiated by the Meghalaya government. He emphasized that accountability will be ensured, and those responsible will face legal consequences. The Chief Minister affirmed that public safety is a top priority, and the state will take necessary steps to protect human lives.

At least 16 bodies of laborers have been recovered after a massive explosion at a suspected illegal coal mine in Meghalaya. The East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police confirmed the death toll and mentioned that the search and rescue operation is ongoing. The central government has announced immediate financial relief for the victims as rescue efforts continue.
