Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revealed that the Central government has developed a comprehensive draft Bill to enforce tougher regulations and harsher penalties for incidents of paper leaks. The proposal is set for discussion in the upcoming Union Cabinet meeting and is anticipated to be presented and approved during the current session of Parliament. Modi expressed empathy towards the distress caused to students and families by paper leaks and highlighted the government’s efforts in apprehending and prosecuting the culprits responsible.
Addressing the issue of paper leaks, Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of exam takers. He mentioned the mobilization of resources to conduct examinations promptly for approximately 2.2 million students, with the recent announcement of results bringing joy to successful candidates nationwide. The Prime Minister affirmed the government’s continuous dedication to combatting examination malpractices by proposing the establishment of fast-track courts and stringent punishments for offenders.
Modi disclosed his personal involvement in formulating the proposal for fast-track courts and strict penalties for individuals engaged in examination misconduct. He indicated that the Cabinet will deliberate on the matter, incorporating suggestions from colleagues before finalizing the proposal. With the Parliamentary session commencing the following week, efforts will be made to expedite the passage of the Bill through the House, reflecting the government’s proactive stance against paper leaks and malpractices in competitive exams.
