Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significance of the restoration of Somnath Temple in 1951 as a symbol of India’s independence spirit. He participated in ceremonies during the ‘Somnath Amrut Mahotsav’ marking 75 years since the temple’s reconstruction inauguration by Dr Rajendra Prasad.
During the event, PM Modi released a commemorative stamp and coin honoring the sacred shrine. Addressing the gathering with chants of “Har Har Mahadev,” he emphasized the rituals’ importance at the Somnath Temple.
PM Modi expressed his reverence for Lord Mahadev and the sacred abode’s reconstruction. He noted the restoration’s symbolic importance in India’s journey towards reclaiming its ancient glory, following independence in 1947.
The Prime Minister described the occasion as a celebration of creation emerging from destruction, embodying the resolve and spiritual consciousness of Somnath. He witnessed cultural performances and participated in various ceremonies at the temple complex.
