Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Anutin Charnvirakul on being re-elected as Thailand’s Prime Minister. Modi expressed eagerness to enhance the strategic partnership between India and Thailand. In his message, Modi praised the strong ties between the two nations based on shared heritage and cultural connections.
Charnvirakul, a member of the Bhumjaithai Party, secured a simple majority in the House of Representatives’ vote, leading to his re-election. He received 293 votes, surpassing the required majority. His opponent, Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, received 119 votes. Charnvirakul pledged to collaborate with all representatives for Thailand’s progress and the welfare of its people.
Pending endorsement by Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Charnvirakul is set to officially begin his new term as Thailand’s 32nd Prime Minister. He assumed office last September following a parliamentary vote that removed the former prime minister due to a constitutional breach.
