Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Himanta Biswa Sarma for being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term. Modi described Sarma as a “wonderful administrator” who has done significant work for the state. The BJP-led NDA government has taken office in Assam for the third consecutive time.
In a social media post, PM Modi expressed his joy for the NDA government’s continuity in Assam and congratulated Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on his oath-taking. Modi commended Sarma’s administrative skills and his contributions to the state. The Prime Minister extended his best wishes for Sarma’s upcoming tenure.
Apart from Sarma, four other ministers were also sworn in as part of the new Council of Ministers. These include former Union Minister Rameswar Teli, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President Atul Bora, United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) leader Charan Boro, and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog. PM Modi congratulated them and wished them success in their roles.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP national leaders, and Chief Ministers from 22 NDA-ruled states. Additionally, several prominent religious leaders, including 15 Satradhikars from Assam’s Vaishnavite monasteries, and leading industrialists were present at the event.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, clad in traditional Assamese attire, took the oath amidst enthusiastic cheers from party members and supporters. The BJP’s victory in the recent Assembly elections has led to Sarma’s return to power, marking his second consecutive term as Chief Minister. With this win, the BJP has made history by forming the government in Assam for the third consecutive time, solidifying its political dominance in the northeastern state.
