Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent his congratulations and best wishes to the Institute of Actuaries of India on their 25th Global Conference. In a letter dated February 21, he commended the organization for its commitment to enhancing the actuarial profession in India. Modi highlighted the crucial role of actuaries in a rapidly developing nation and praised the Institute for its efforts in setting standards, promoting research, and addressing emerging risks.
The theme of this year’s conference, ‘Actuarial Pathways to Viksit Bharat: Managing Risk for Inclusive Social and Economic Growth,’ was lauded by the Prime Minister as highly relevant given India’s current economic and social landscape. He emphasized the evolution of actuarial sciences in parallel with India’s economic progress and stressed the increasing significance of risk management and data-driven policy decisions.
Modi also acknowledged the impact of key welfare schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat in expanding insurance, health protection, and pension coverage. He underscored the vital role of actuaries in the success of these initiatives and highlighted the need to strengthen safety nets for citizens as India progresses towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Expressing confidence in the global conference’s ability to facilitate knowledge exchange and idea-sharing among participants, including students, associates, fellows, affiliates, and experts, the Prime Minister wished for the event’s success.
