In a speech at Kaziranga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized past administrations for permitting infiltration in Assam to secure votes. He highlighted the negative impact of infiltration on Assam’s history, culture, and wildlife corridors. PM Modi praised the current Assam government for effectively addressing infiltration issues and reclaiming encroached lands.
The Prime Minister expressed concerns about infiltrators disturbing the demographic balance, cultural integrity, and job opportunities in Assam. He warned against the opposition’s alleged support for infiltrators and emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant. PM Modi noted that Assam’s development is crucial for the progress of the entire Northeast region and aligns with the Act East Policy.
During the event, PM Modi inaugurated the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project, a significant infrastructure initiative worth over Rs 6,950 crore. This project aims to enhance regional connectivity while safeguarding the biodiversity of Kaziranga National Park. Additionally, the Prime Minister launched two new Amrit Bharat Express train services to strengthen rail connectivity between Northeast and Northern India.
