Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Trinamool Congress during a campaign rally in West Bengal without directly naming Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee or the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC). He accused the party and state government of obstructing a central investigative agency’s work and attempting to tamper with evidence. PM Modi highlighted the Supreme Court’s recent orders, labeling such actions as undemocratic.
He also mentioned the rape and murder case of a junior doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, citing state administration interference in the Central Bureau of Investigation’s probe. PM Modi referenced the 2023 violence during the panchayat elections in West Bengal, where the court had to order the deployment of central forces due to security concerns.
Bringing up the cash-for-school job scandal in the state, the Prime Minister criticized the Trinamool Congress government for failing to conduct an impartial investigation. He pointed out a minister’s involvement in jeopardizing the future of many youths and emphasized the need for a central agency probe. PM Modi concluded by questioning the state government’s credibility in handling such matters.
