Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed joy at the display of Lord Buddha’s sacred relics in Leh. The relics, associated with the Piprahwa Stupa in Kapilavastu, were unearthed in the late 19th century. The exhibition, inaugurated on Buddha Purnima, will run until May 14 and will later move to Zanskar, providing an opportunity for people in Ladakh to pay their respects and promoting spiritual and cultural tourism in the region.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the opening day of the relics’ exhibition and addressed a large gathering. He highlighted the significance of the relics’ arrival in Ladakh after seven decades, emphasizing the opportunity it provides for devotees of various faiths to witness them. Shah praised Lord Buddha’s timeless teachings and the historical importance of Ladakh as a center of Buddhism and cultural exchange.
Shah noted that Ladakh, known for its spiritual heritage and role in the Silk Road, has historically been a hub of diverse cultures and religions. He emphasized the relevance of Lord Buddha’s message in contemporary times, underscoring the region’s enduring significance in promoting peace and understanding among different communities.
