Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella in Rome to discuss enhancing relations in trade, technology, innovation, clean energy, Artificial Intelligence, and culture. The meeting also involved External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and other officials. Both leaders emphasized the enduring partnership between India and Italy across various sectors.
PM Modi and President Mattarella exchanged warm greetings before the meeting and interacted with each other’s delegations. They reaffirmed the strong India-Italy partnership and engaged in discussions on trade, technology, innovation, clean energy, AI, and culture. The leaders also shared perspectives on regional and international developments of mutual interest, as per MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
During his visit, PM Modi attended a dinner hosted by Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and expressed anticipation for their discussions to further enhance the India-Italy friendship. The leaders also visited the famous Colosseum in Rome. PM Modi’s visit to Italy aims to bolster bilateral ties, aligning with the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029 covering various areas of cooperation such as trade, investment, defence, clean energy, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges.
