Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a tour to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand to bolster India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision, and commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific. In Indonesia, he will focus on enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2018 and strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties. PM Modi will also engage with the Indian diaspora and visit significant cultural sites during his stay.
After Indonesia, PM Modi will visit Melbourne at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to further solidify the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Discussions will cover defense, security, trade, investments, education, and fostering people-to-people connections. The visit aims to deepen bilateral relations in critical areas such as technology, sports, and sports science, with a special focus on engaging the Indian community in Australia.
Following his time in Australia, PM Modi will travel to Auckland, New Zealand, at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. The visit seeks to build on the positive momentum in bilateral ties, particularly in economic, trade, and commercial sectors. Talks will center on enhancing trade relations, including the recently signed Free Trade Agreement, and recognizing the contributions of the Indian diaspora to India-New Zealand relations. The tour underscores India’s commitment to its Act East Policy and a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
