Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the economic empowerment of women through various government initiatives during the Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan. He noted the increasing role of women in Parliament and the government’s commitment to passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam amendment bill through dialogue and cooperation. Modi praised the significant contributions of women in Panchayati Raj institutions to nation-building.
The Prime Minister commended the success of women-led initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission and emphasized the importance of women’s participation in decision-making processes. He listed flagship schemes benefiting women, such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. Modi also highlighted initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Ujjwala Yojana aimed at improving women’s lives across various stages.
Acknowledging the positive impact of government programs, Modi mentioned that over 30 million women have become homeowners through housing schemes. He underscored the shift towards women’s economic empowerment, where even sons now invite their mothers to participate in discussions. The Prime Minister expressed his support for the Women’s Reservation Bill and called for parliamentary consensus to implement women’s reservation effectively.
A special three-day parliamentary session is scheduled to introduce amendments for women’s reservation, aiming to increase Lok Sabha seats and reserve one-third for women. The government plans constitutional amendments, including a Delimitation Bill, to support women’s representation in Parliament. Modi urged all political parties to unite in enabling Nari Shakti to contribute significantly to India’s future development.
