Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed worries about the state of affairs in West Asia and affirmed India’s commitment to collaborating closely with regional countries to safeguard its citizens. Emphasizing New Delhi’s support for peace and stability, PM Modi, during a press conference with Canadian PM Mark Carney, highlighted India’s unwavering stance on global tensions. He underscored the significance of peaceful resolutions through dialogue and diplomacy, particularly in the Gulf region, where India remains dedicated to ensuring the well-being of its nationals.

The escalating conflict in the Middle East, triggered by US-Israel strikes on Iran, has drawn attention globally. The situation has led to retaliatory actions from Iran, resulting in a series of drone and missile attacks across the Gulf, impacting various nations and causing disruptions. Amid the heightened tensions, US forces have responded with counter-measures, including naval operations, marking a significant and prolonged confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

In response to recent developments, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), led by PM Modi, convened to address the air strikes in Iran and the subsequent escalation in the Middle East. The committee expressed deep concerns regarding the safety and security of the large Indian expatriate community in the region, emphasizing the need for vigilance and coordinated efforts to safeguard Indian citizens amidst the evolving situation.
