Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep condolences for the tragic road accident that occurred on Wednesday evening at Tirla bypass near Chikliya Phata in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. The accident, which claimed 12 lives and left 13 injured, happened on the Indore-Ahmedabad highway when a pick-up vehicle carrying several laborers, including children, overturned near a petrol pump in Chikliya.
Local witnesses reported that the pickup vehicle, carrying around 40 to 45 laborers, suddenly lost control, leading to the overturning of the vehicle. Following the accident, there was chaos at the scene, with locals immediately initiating relief efforts and informing the police. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the deceased individuals and their families.
In response to the tragic incident, PM Modi announced financial assistance from the PMNRF, with an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured. The police have identified the individuals who lost their lives in the accident, including children and women from the Bhil community. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also expressed grief over the incident and announced financial aid for the affected families and the injured.
