PM Modi Extends Greetings to Maharashtra on Statehood Day

In a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his best wishes to the people of Maharashtra on Statehood Day, acknowledging the state’s historical significance as an inspiration for Indian civilization. He highlighted Maharashtra’s cultural heritage and future development plans, emphasizing its pivotal role in India’s economic growth. PM Modi praised the state’s achievements in infrastructure, innovation, and economic transformation, citing major projects like the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line and Navi Mumbai Airport.

2026 marks a crucial period for Maharashtra, with the Prime Minister outlining a roadmap for the state’s progress. He commended Maharashtra’s leadership in areas such as data centers, digital infrastructure, and the creative industries. PM Modi also lauded the state’s contributions to India’s development, noting its appeal to investors and its recent global recognitions. He paid tribute to late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and singer Asha Bhosle, acknowledging their passing in 2026.

The Prime Minister highlighted Maharashtra’s milestones, including anniversaries of prominent figures like Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar and Mahatma Phule. He praised the state government’s focus on ‘Samta’ (Equality) and ‘Samajik Samarasta’ (Social Harmony) for the year. PM Modi concluded by reaffirming the Union government’s commitment to supporting Maharashtra’s journey towards self-reliance, underscoring the state’s crucial role in achieving a self-sufficient India.
