Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Haryana’s Jind as a ‘sushasan model’ due to the effective governance under the “double-engine” government while launching India’s inaugural hydrogen-powered train. Named NaMo Green Rail, the 10-coach train will operate between Jind and Sonipat, enhancing connectivity and development in the region. PM Modi emphasized the significance of the train, highlighting its indigenous design and its role in promoting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The hydrogen-powered train, a pioneering initiative in India, is set to cover 89 kilometers between Jind and Sonipat, marking a milestone in sustainable transportation. PM Modi expressed pride in India joining the select group of nations with operational hydrogen trains, underscoring the country’s technological advancements in this field. He also lauded Haryana’s historical significance and its contribution to the nation’s progress.
Addressing the audience, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw commended the technological breakthrough achieved through the development of hydrogen technology in India. He praised the leadership and engineering capabilities that led to this remarkable achievement. The successful testing of the hydrogen-powered train beyond Sonipat indicates future plans for its extended operation to Delhi, showcasing India’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation solutions.
PM Modi inaugurated various development projects, including the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and the Ambala-Kala Amb Highway, aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time. These infrastructure projects are designed to boost economic growth, improve transportation links, and facilitate tourism in the region. The Prime Minister’s initiatives also encompassed the healthcare sector, with the launch of medical institutions to enhance medical education and services in Haryana.
