Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significant growth opportunities resulting from the partnership between India and the United Kingdom. He expressed his pleasure in meeting UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and acknowledged the deepening ties between the two countries. PM Modi mentioned that the India-UK Vision 2035 would continue to guide their partnership for mutual benefit and global welfare.
Cooper also met with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar, who described the India-UK partnership as a pathway to shared economic ambitions and advanced technology. The discussions between the leaders focused on various areas of cooperation such as trade, technology, defense, climate, education, and people-to-people connections. They also explored new opportunities in clean energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and critical minerals.
The leaders exchanged perspectives on global affairs, including developments in regions like Ukraine, West Asia, and the Indo-Pacific. EAM Jaishankar highlighted the progress made under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, driven by Vision 2035, emphasizing the continued advancement of bilateral relations. He underscored the potential for India and the UK to forge a future-oriented and mutually beneficial partnership.
During the meeting in New Delhi, EAM Jaishankar commended the significant milestones in India-UK relations, citing visits by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to India and PM Narendra Modi to the UK. The discussions were attended by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, India’s High Commissioner to the UK P. Kumaran, and other officials.
