Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. The discussions focused on various sectors such as energy, trade, investment, blue economy, technology (including fintech), defense, and people-to-people connections. They also talked about developments in West Asia and global issues.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, mentioned that both leaders had a wide-ranging and productive meeting. They emphasized enhancing the bilateral partnership, particularly in energy, trade, investment, blue economy, technology, defense, and people-to-people ties. The leaders also condemned recent attacks on the UAE and reaffirmed their commitment to peace and prosperity.
Agreements were exchanged in areas like energy, defense, infrastructure, shipping, and advanced technology between India and the UAE. The agreements aimed to further boost the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Additionally, the UAE announced investments of USD 5 billion in India to strengthen markets and infrastructure. PM Modi expressed gratitude to the UAE government and royal family for their support to the Indian community during the West Asia conflict.
PM Modi’s visit to the UAE marked the beginning of his five-nation tour. He was received by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Abu Dhabi airport, where UAE F16 jets escorted his plane upon entry into the country’s airspace.
