Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the CG Semi OSAT facility in Sanand, Gujarat, highlighting India’s technological advancements. The plant, established just two years ago, has swiftly progressed to full commercial production after commencing chip testing in August 2025. PM Modi credited the success to the “Design in India, Make in India” initiative, emphasizing India’s capability to achieve significant milestones.
PM Modi praised the Indo-Japanese-Thai collaboration behind the project, viewing it as a symbol of international technological trust that will boost India’s semiconductor industry. During his visit to the facility, he interacted with young workers and commended their dedication and confidence. Notably, he acknowledged the transformation of young tribal women, who, after training in Malaysia, are now contributing to semiconductor chip manufacturing in Gujarat.
Highlighting the importance of building complete ecosystems, PM Modi envisioned Sanand evolving into a prominent semiconductor cluster akin to global technological hubs. He emphasized the need for a self-reliant approach in high-tech materials and minerals to secure the entire value chain. PM Modi expressed optimism that Indian-made chips will drive the upcoming AI and robotics revolution, ensuring a bright future for the country’s youth.
Assuring global investors of policy stability and efficient execution, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to facilitating ease of doing business. He reaffirmed the national goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing the government’s dedication to fostering a conducive environment for growth.
