Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Puducherry on Sunday to launch development projects worth Rs 2,700 crore, highlighting the region’s potential as a medical tourism hub in India. The PM commended the NDA government’s efforts towards the welfare of the people, focusing on inclusive progress through urban and rural infrastructure development.
In his address to the public, PM Modi emphasized the significance of healthcare, stating that a healthy human capital is essential for a nation’s progress. He announced initiatives to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability in Puducherry, aiming to attract patients nationally and internationally. The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of clean and sustainable mobility, promoting green transport solutions like electric vehicles to reduce pollution in the region.
Furthermore, PM Modi announced projects to decongest Puducherry town, including a significant flyover construction. He highlighted the government’s commitment to youth empowerment by introducing new infrastructure at NIT Karaikal and enhancing facilities at Puducherry University. The Prime Minister also acknowledged the successful recruitment of thousands of government vacancies in Puducherry, emphasizing the government’s dedication to accelerating infrastructure development nationwide.
PM Modi reiterated the government’s focus on infrastructure development, citing a substantial allocation in the Union Budget for this purpose. He mentioned Puducherry’s inclusion in the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme, which will enhance funding opportunities for various sectors. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress in Puducherry, attributing it to the collaborative efforts of the central and union territory governments working towards a shared vision.
