These projects cover sectors like transport connectivity, industrial infrastructure, power distribution, healthcare, and urban development, aiming to bolster Surat’s position as a significant economic and industrial center in Gujarat.
The initiatives include the inauguration of key sections of the eight-lane Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, set to enhance high-speed connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra. Additionally, the Prime Minister initiated the four-laning of crucial parts of National Highway-56, focusing on improving road connectivity in tribal areas and facilitating access to the Statue of Unity corridor.
Furthermore, in the industrial and utilities domain, PM Modi launched multiple infrastructure projects, such as power transmission expansion systems to reinforce Gujarat’s inter-state electricity evacuation capacity. The healthcare sector in Surat also saw a significant uplift with the opening of a 200-bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital, offering secondary healthcare services to workers and their families.
PM Modi also oversaw the launch of various industrial and urban infrastructure projects in Surat, including those related to petroleum, chemicals, and petrochemical investment regions. These developments aim to enhance operational efficiency and environmental compliance. The Prime Minister’s visit included a review of industrial operations at Hazira in Surat district, a crucial industrial and defence manufacturing hub in India.
