Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the 12th International Day of Yoga in Kolkata, emphasizing the importance of integrating yoga into daily life beyond just an annual event. He encouraged participants to make yoga a lifelong practice, extending it to families and future generations through initiatives like Yoga 365. The event, themed “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” underscored yoga’s benefits for physical and mental well-being across all age groups.

PM Modi praised the efforts of Kolkata residents for cleanliness and yoga initiatives, highlighting the city’s contributions to promoting a healthy lifestyle. He stressed the significance of yoga in maintaining vitality and growth as individuals age, aiming for increased flexibility and well-being. Quoting from the Bhagavad Gita, he emphasized the need for balance in life to alleviate suffering through yoga.

Around 35,000 individuals joined PM Modi in the Common Yoga Protocol at Kolkata’s Red Road, making it one of the largest Yoga Day gatherings in the country. The celebrations, engaging nearly 10 lakh people in synchronized yoga sessions, showcased yoga’s global appeal in fostering wellness and balance. International Yoga Day, observed annually on June 21, continues to advocate for a healthier lifestyle through the practice of yoga.
